WHAT IS CROSSFIT?
CrossFit is a training methodology and fitness regimen that was developed over sevreal decades by Greg Glassman, CrossFit’s Founder and CEO. Glassman, a modern thinker, was the first person in history to define fitness in a meaningful, measurable way: increased work capacity across broad time and modal domains. He then created a program specifically designed to improve fitness and health, which is what CrossFit is.
The CrossFit you see on TV is like the NFL. Those athletes are professionals. Just Like we would not suit you up in a helmet and pads and ask you to step on the field with the New England Patriots, we would not throw a barbell at you and tell you to perform like a CrossFit games athlete. CrossFit is NOT what you see on TV as a sport. CrossFit IS a workout methodology which is effective for ALL WALKS OF LIFE!
CrossFit is constantly varied functional movements performed at high intensity. All CrossFit workouts are based on functional movements, and these movements reflect the best aspects of gymnastics, weightlifting, running, rowing and more. These are the core movements of life.
Intensity is essential for results and is measurable, and is also relative to the individual.By employing a constantly varied approach to training, functional movements and relative intensity lead to dramatic gains in fitness.
